This course will teach students how to read and write. This class gives students tools for selecting and comprehending books, and job applications. Students who were once reluctant to read will find themselves with reading skills needed to be successful. Do NOT let your lack of reading skills hold you from a good paying job. FBAS 547               Creative Writing Workshop              ($45)

Come have fun!  This workshop-style course is for writers of fiction, poetry, and/or drama who would like feedback on their work.  We will workshop existing projects, do exercises to create new ones, and read the work of professional writers. Open to ages 16 and up.

FBAS 84       Getting the Most Out of Your Writing       ($40)

As Abraham Maslow pointed out, if the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to treat everything as a nail. The focus here is to have more writing tools at your disposal. Sessions will include getting the most out of your story structure, characters, dialogue, humor, action sequences, and descriptive techniques. We’ll fine-tune what you already know and reveal the importance of combining individuality and creativity to yield that rarest of elements, originality. The course is taught by a published writer and former Program Director for the Riverside Arts Foundation.
