CMCP 1159 CPR/First Aid ($50)
This course includes instruction on CPR for adult, child and infant; choking; recognition, prevention and treatment of cardiopulmonary emergencies and stroke; education on blood borne pathogens; and use of barrier devices. (Not for health-care professionals.) First aid includes instruction on recognizing the signs and symptoms of sudden illness or injury, and how to respond while maintaining your own safety. It also covers controlling of bleeding, treating victims for shock as well as many other emergencies encountered by rescuers every day. It discusses what is needed to prepare for a medical emergency.

CMCP 1275 American Heart Association ($60)
Healthcare Provider CPR
The program will cover BLS Healthcare Provider CPR including learning the warning signs of a heart attack and stroke; and CPR skills including the use of an AED and relief of choking for all ages. Within ten working days, the student will receive a BLS Healthcare Provider CPR card valid for 2 years from the American Heart Association. NOTE: The use of American Heart Association material does not represent sponsorship and any fees charged for such a course does not represent income to the association. Workshop fee includes CPR Book which must be picked up at registration. These classes are advanced registration only; registration will not be accepted at the door.

PHARMACY TECHNICIAN

Victor Valley College, Community Education in partnership with Boston Reed College is offering a 27-week Pharmacy Technician Training Program.
The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist with mixing and packaging prescriptions, maintaining client records, referring clients to the pharmacist for counseling, assisting with inventory control and purchasing, as well as collecting payment and coordinating billing. Classroom: 182 hours; Externship: 120 hours.
“Certification: Upon completion graduates will receive a certificate of completion and become eligible to apply for registration as a Pharmacy Technician in California and be prepared to take the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam.”

Victor Valley College, Community Education in partnership with Boston Reed College is offering an EKG/ECG Training Program.
Electrocardiograph (EKG or ECG) Technicians operate equipment that measures and records heart activity. These measurements are used to assist cardiologists and other physicians in diagnosing and treating blood vessel and heart related problems. This 70-hour course is designed to provide instruction in Electrocardiography testing procedures and includes lead placement utilizing 12 lead EKG, use and understanding of EKG grid paper, recognizing normal and abnormal EKG patterns in all 12 leads and plotting EKG axis. Course material will be presented through lecture and hands-on participation.
